1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to define the Company's plan to
provide equal employment opportunities to all job applicants and to
all employees. The purpose of this policy is also to outline the
responsibilities of management and of the corporate Equal Employment
Department.
2. Scope
This policy applies without exception to all job applicants and to
all employees of wholly owned or majority-owned subsidiaries and
joint ventures for which the Company has management responsibility.
3. Philosophy
It is the intent of the Company to provide equal employment
opportunities to all job applicants and employees: to administer
hiring, compensation and benefits practices, training, upgrading and
promotion procedures, transfers, and terminations of employment
without discrimination because of race, religion, color, sex, age,
national origin, citizenship, or physical or mental disability with
regard to any position or employment for which the applicant or
employee is qualified; to provide a workplace free from harassment
based on any of the foregoing factors.
Failure to comply with federal and state
regulations as they relate to equal employment could lessen our
competitive market position an could lead to unnecessary litigation.
It is clearly good business and employee relations practice and
therefore becomes each manager's responsibility to ensure that our
policy is understood and followed by all employees throughout the
corporation.
